The development of addressable systems has been considered the most significant advance for fire safety systems in the last half century. Addressable systems gave us point ID, individual initiating device status, drift compensation, lower false alarm rates and more flexibility in design and utility of life safety systems. With every advance, however, comes a different set of challenges. More sophistication and complexity can help- or hurt- while designing, troubleshooting, or installing a new or existing fire alarm system.
